Abstract

|
This study were to design therapeutic songwriting based on Korean popular music, and to examine the effects of therapeutic songwriting on high school special class adolescents’ self-identity and self-esteem. The participants recruited for this study were 14 adolescents attending special class at S High School located in Gyeonggi Province. As a result, therapeutic songwriting activity has significantly improved the adolescents’ self-identity and self-esteem. This study is meaningful in the sense therapeutic songwriting activity works as an emotional intervention for the adolescents. At the same time, therapeutic songwriting contributes to their emotional improvement as a psychologically supportive intervention for high school special class adolescents.
